Slower by design
More time and space to work on what matters to you. Continue a project you bring, follow a new idea that emerges here, or co-work and collaborate with others in the cohort.
Artizen Creative Residency / 2026
A creative residency for artists, builders, community weavers, and practitioners imagining and building liveable futures—new ways to produce, govern, own, and care for what we hold in common.
20Artizen Village invites creators making culture at the edge of commons, ecology, science, technology, and arts into Valley of the Commons, a four-week pop-up gathering in the Austrian Alps.
The Village runs for two weeks within it, from August 31 to September 12, as an independent track with its own rhythm.
A slower rhythm
More time and space to work on what matters to you. Continue a project you bring, follow a new idea that emerges here, or co-work and collaborate with others in the cohort.
A check-in, time for co-creation and dialogue, and the freedom to open a session, collaborate with another track, or keep the day for the cohort.
Join daily keynotes and work across the Valley's Tech, Reflective, and Local tracks. Build meaningful relationships, find sparks for collaboration, and let ideas cross-pollinate across Artizen and the wider gathering.
Co-create the public program, share artifacts, music, and stories, and get honest feedback from the people who show up.
Artizens get a dedicated 50 m² space to adapt, decorate, and claim together.
In the middle of the Alps
Commons Hub used to be an artist colony, and it still holds the tools for it: musical instruments, good speakers, a projector for throwing visual art onto the walls after dark, a 3D printer, and a laser cutter. Enough to make almost anything.
Step outside to swim in the local river, hike, hunt mushrooms, or climb rock. There is room to hold sessions out in the wild, then carry the day back into your own projects.

Who can apply
We prioritize creators with an active Artizen project or fund. If selected and not yet on the platform, you can create a project with this guide or be onboarded during the residency.
Your project aligns with the values of Valley of the Commons.
We prioritize the full two weeks. The minimum is one week: Aug 31—Sep 6 for Cosmo-Local Production, or Sep 6—12 for Future Living.
Applying as part of a collective is possible but each person should submit their own application and mention the collective in their response.
Applications close August 19
We welcome half-baked projects, emerging practices, and concrete invitations to make something together.
